Raise the Rhythm

From sports to music, Charles Morgan (9) always had something in hand. A football on the field, a basketball on the court, and a recorder to a beat. Before his journey making his own music, Morgan could play the trumpet, tuba, trombone and piano.
“My grandfather inspired me to make music first because he brought a piano when I was like four, and he let me play it for a little bit,” Morgan said. “He taught me how to play it, and ever since then I just like music.”
Playing music continued after he learned these instruments. He began making music of numerous genres, using BandLab to make beats and then recording his own vocals.
“Right now I don't have a studio, so I go downstairs in my basement and then I record off my phone,” Morgan said.
He had so many songs, he couldn’t even name them all. After he created a song, he wouldn’t post it on official music sites, though he hoped to get there eventually. He did, however, post on his TikTok story sometimes.
“I only give snippets,” Morgan said.
Morgan didn’t share his music with many, social media and family being the only ones to hear his songs. One other person became an exception when Morgan shared part of one of his songs with Rodney Nixon, a school security guard.
“I was surprised to know that he was making that music,” Nixon said.
Nixon heard the music before knowing the vocals belonged to Morgan. After he learned this, Nixon told Morgan it was “really good” and should be heard by more.
“I thought it was awesome,” Nixon said. “I think he needs to share it with more people”
